In February, something magical happens in Vänersborg.
The sculpture park is transformed into a spectacular light experience where art, technology, and winter come together in a colorful and memorable festival.
The Magic of Light by the River is a light walk through the Sculpture Park, where the park's artworks take center stage and are enhanced by specially designed light installations. The light is not decoration—it is part of the art. Each installation is created to highlight shapes, create new perspectives, and turn the sculpture park into an illuminated outdoor gallery after dark.
The festival marks the start of a long-term initiative to promote the Sculpture Park as a tourist destination, giving both new and returning visitors the chance to experience art in a whole new way.
Focus on the sculpture park
During the festival, most of the light installations are directly linked to the park's artworks. Some sculptures are illuminated to highlight details and materials, while others are given a new expression through color, movement, and shadow play.
The walk takes you through the entire park and allows you to experience how light can transform art, spaces, and atmosphere. Whether you are interested in art, a curious visitor, or just want to experience something different, this is an experience that stands out.

Interactive zone – play with light in dialogue with selected artworks

On Friday and Saturday evenings, we offer fun family activities, a quiz walk, disc golf, crafts in the hotel lobby, and sledding.

Entrance
100 SEK person, ages 12 and up
Admission includes a light bracelet and a map of the light walk with information about sculptures and installations.
Payment is made via Swish/QR when checking in at the main parking lot at Restad Gård.
Food, warmth & closing
For those who want to extend the evening, there is an after-walk or sit-down dinner at Hotel Hehrne, where the light show continues outside the hotel.
